Ideal Home Show Review
What a Show! The Good Toy Guide reports back on the Ideal Home Show @ Christmas
The Good Toy Guide helped the Ideal Home Show Christmas launch it’s toy village by providing a play zone for children to test out the toys they might have on their Christmas list as well as a convenient retail stand from which to buy Good Toys.
With something for everyone, the Good Toy Guide stands were busy throughout the show and visitors were impressed with the knowledge and enthusiasm of the staff.
Some of the ‘Good Toys’ were demonstrated by their own companies including Marvin’s Magic, Bananagrams, Playaway Case and Jumping Bean Bag Club which added interest and variety to the busy stand. Other products were under the wonderful care of Lauren and the team at Sense theatre, one of the GTG’s accredited testing play clubs, and the children enjoyed playing with the toys and games as well as learning circus skills in the play zone.
With experts from the GTG head office on hand at all times to answer parents questions about play and child development it was a busy stand.
This was the Good Toy Guide’s first venture into consumer shows and as the team are quick to admit, it was a learning curve! Sales were slower than hoped, particularly of the higher price point items, but people with children at the show were keen to find out about the products and then go online to buy, away from little eyes! Frances Cain from A Girl for All Time reported a dramatic increase in website traffic during and immediately after the show.
It’s a fantastic marketing platform and the GTG team are looking at ways to maximise exposure and improve the sales aspect for next year.
Companies who are interested in being involved with the Good Toy Guide at the show next year should contact Lorna@goodtoyguide.com before December 31st to take advantage of early bird discounts.
