What is it
Most youngsters have a fear of the dark at some point. With the help of Duckie Deck’s Monsters, children can not only adjust to the dark, but befriend it as well! The scary looking monster shapes initially seen in a dark scene quickly turn into cute, charming and not-at-all scary creatures when a child turns on the light. The colours, dynamic elements and fun sound effects are designed to capture a child’s imagination. The simple user interface makes it easy for kids to play independently, or together with a friend or family member.

What our experts think
It was lovely to see children’s initial genuine concern of the first monster they saw in the dark melt away into delight as the not-so-scary monster appeared. We saw children of 2 years old or in some cases younger work out where to find the light switch for each monster and then enjoy interacting with the various features.
This is a lovely app for children to explore alone – learning on their own that scary shapes don’t have to be so scary and working out the various interactive features. However, if you have a child with a fear of the dark this would be a great one to play alongside your child to talk through their fears and reassure them.
