What is it
Quick Math Jr aims to develop number sense through a range of activities. Children will be encouraged to name numbers; practice number sequence up to 100; count from numbers other than one; count on and back in a range of steps; solve addition and subtraction questions; rehearse number bonds; use a number line to locate and place numbers of differing value.
The app adjusts the difficulty of the questions to make sure each individual player is always at a level that is just right for them. There are twelve games which progress from multiple-choice to handwritten answers. Children can create their own monster characters by winning new features; their creations will appear in the game.

What our experts think
Quick Maths Jr is an engaging app that enhances children’s mathematical understanding and is fun to use. The monster element was a massive hit with our players; they loved making the monsters and earning new ones.
The app was easy to navigate and was well laid out with bright colours and animations to keep the children’s interest. There was a wide range of activities and it was good how the level of difficulty increased as the children’s ability grew. We really like the fact that you can have multiple players and that parents can monitor their child’s progress. There is a very detailed parent’s section with clear links to the KS1 National Curriculum for Numeracy.
It would be even better if...
An assessment of the users current ability would be have been a great addition to this app. The beginner level was very simple, so a child at the upper end of KS1 may not persevere to the harder concepts.
