What is it
We Discover Africa: Safari Quest is a board game app. It combines the traditional elements of a board game with the modern technology of an app.
The aim of the game is to collect all 7 animal photos and reach the end; players can play against the computer or there is a multiplayer option (up to 4 players). You roll the dice and move around the board (just like in a real board game.) There are multiple choice Safari themed questions to answer (there are over 350 in total) as you travel around the board; if you answer correctly you will be awarded an item for your backpack. Along the way you might come across a lion, have to hide from rain showers, repair a bridge or scare away a snake.
There are 3 different difficulty levels so that the questions can be pitched at the correct level for the player/s. You can have the questions and answers read to you by clicking on the musical note icon; the answers have photographs which are very helpful if you are not an expert on African animals!

What our experts think
We Discover Africa: Safari Quest is a brilliant take on the traditional board game. Our testers really enjoyed playing it and were reluctant to stop! The whole concept was very good and the game played well; it was easy for children to use and the game play was intuitive.
The graphics were engaging and colourful and definitely held the interest of the children who tested the app. Including photographs with the question answers was a great idea.
We really liked the way in which you could change the level of difficulty of the questions and the fact that this could be different for each player. The questions were challenging and children and adults all learnt something new whilst playing!
It is lovely to find an app which can be played by more than one player – this not only promotes turn taking but also allows for time to be spent with friends and family.
It would be even better if...
Some of our players were unaware of the fact that the questions and answers could be read to you; the musical note icon could be more prominent.
