What to look for?

Between 3 and 5 years old children change dramatically. Playing with peers is becoming easier, toys and games that encourage turn-taking, team play or sharing are brilliant at developing their social awareness and helping mature friendships.  As movement is getting established, muscle strengthening games and toys are very beneficial.
Concentration will also have become quite established now and memory games can keep their attention and focus for longer periods of time. Team games or sports are very popular as they are start to enjoy playing with other children. Goal focused play is challenging and rewarding when they achieve the desired outcome.
Language and communication is developing rapidly as they start school and socialise regularly with others. Games, books and toys that promote further speech, language and reading skills are great at this age. Maths and alphabet games are of interest and give a boost to their confidence when they get the answers correct.

How we review our apps

Every toy submitted to the Guide is firstly tested by the important people – children.

While the children play, they are observed by professionals who have been trained to carry out research with children in a robust, and ethically responsible way.

These apps are then put through their paces by our team of experts to ensure they meet our strict criteria in three main areas – Fun, Ease of Use and Skills Developed.
