About Us

The Rocking Horse toy shop is a family run traditional toy shop situated in the heart of the Lake District

We specialise in traditional wooden toys for 0 – 6 year olds, and offer

products from well-loved brands such as Melissa and Doug, Bigjigs Toys, Brio and Orchard Toys, as well as an ever changing range of unusual toys from smaller companies.

Our comprehensive range of wooden toys includes everything from spinning tops to rocking horses. Many toys have been selected for their educational value as well as play value, allowing children to learn and develop vital skills through play.

For older children, we offer a wide selection of children’s arts and crafts activities such as colouring and sticker pads, ‘on the go’ craft activities and a range of ‘decorate your own’ craft sets, with everything you need to complete a craft project from scratch.

For babies we have a range of comforters, soft toys and rattles which also make ideal Christening gifts!
