Creative play develops a range of skills including gross and fine motor control, shape awareness, colour identification, imagination and satisfaction in producing something. Creativity can be found in so many toys, as playing with a toy fires the imagination and thus leads to creative thinking.
Being creative stretches the mind, whilst engaging children with colour, shape, reading instructions, narrative and much more. There is a wide range of creativity, when you think of a blank page with a pencil through to the paint by numbers type of toy. There is everything inbetween which gives children scope for their individual or collective creativity to come through. Concentration is promoted as are artistic traits and above all imagination, either alone or with others.
Boys and girls have creativity in equal measure so toys to promote this can be gender neutral.
