What our experts think
The Town and About books are a lovely way to help curious minds explore and understand the world. They were really popular with our testers, especially ‘Building Site’ – possibly because they found the builder on the toilet so funny!
Two year-olds loved flicking through the books to see the pictures, although we found their attention spans were too short for the amount of text. This is still a really good way to encourage an interest in reading, as they learn how to use a book (turning the pages, seeing the story progress).
Three to four year-olds were fascinated by the books, and they loved lifting the flaps which helps hone their finger strength and coordination, while also promoting curiosity. They also really enjoyed learning the new facts – one little boy was totally hooked by ‘Building Site’ and told his mum everything he’d learned when she picked him up from pre-school. This is a wonderful way to get children enthusiastic about reading and build their vocabulary.
