What is it
Yoto Player is a carefully connected screen-free speaker designed for kids, that brings the best stories, music, activities, podcasts and radio into one place. The Yoto Player has no screen, no camera, no microphone, no ads; we’re giving children aged 2-12 years old the freedom to play this audio in a safe environment, without distraction.
The Yoto Player is easy and intuitive for kids to play with; the experience is built around the cards: pop a card into Yoto Player and the audio starts, take the card out again and the audio stops. Inserted again, the audio starts where it was left. There are two orange buttons for kids to set up volume up and down and skip forward and back. The player doesn’t need to be online to work: the first time a card is inserted into the player, the content downloads to the Yoto Player so that card can be played again when the player is offline.
There is a free parental app in order to set up the player, manage setting behind the scene (such as volume limit, day and night time, disabling Wifi or nightlight colour) and access all your Yoto cards, so they can be played on the go.
Yoto Player features:
- Built-in battery so it can be taken by the kids around the house

What our experts think
The fun and visually appealing Yoto Player lets children independently listen to stories, music and content, helping them develop their listening and literacy skills. Parents found it easy to set up and use and liked its screen-free, story focus. As well as the story cards, there is an included app and the younger children enjoyed listening to the nursery rhymes.
Our testers found it great for bedtime stories, with the children looking forward to listening to a different story on it each night. This is great for building a relaxing bedtime routine, while also getting the literacy benefits that children would get from reading a book. The day and night settings also mean it can be used as a clock to wake up to for children in the morning.
