What our experts think

A great construction toy that uses the ‘magic’ of magnetism. Our testers were immediately drawn to the product mainly due to its sparkly appearance! The children really enjoyed being creative – from shapes to buildings, the options were seemingly endless; providing lots of opportunities for imaginative play and storytelling.

The magnets require a fair degree of fine motor control and the children developed theirs whilst playing – they needed to manipulate the small pieces and attach them, building dexterity and hand-eye coordination. This did, at times, prove tricky: our only criticism is that the strength of the magnets means that the pieces keep on sticking to each other when you don’t want them to! This toy is a great introduction to magnetism, the children developed their scientific knowledge as they explored, learning through trial and error which pieces attracted and repelled. The different shapes also provide the potential to discuss names and properties of 2D and 3D shapes, which is part of the National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2.
