Description
Get ready to blast off with the Lamaze Stacking Starseeker. This colourful plush spaceship separates into four segments that baby can use to foster motor skills by stacking up, taking apart and putting back together. The easy-to-grasp plush figure and star-shaped teether encourage put in-and-take-out play, while the bright contrast patterns and surprise crinkles stimulate the senses.
What our testers said
“Monkey fell out – oh dear!” Girl aged 17 months
“He smiled every time he pulled the rocket apart.” Observer of boy aged 10 months
What our experts think
A colourful and tactile spaceship that caught the eyes of our testers; they couldn’t wait to start pulling it apart! They enjoyed the feel of the toy, the bright contrasting patterns, and the way they could attach and pull off the different sections. There were lots of tactile features to shake, scrunch and fiddle with, supporting hand strength and coordination (known as fine motor control) and fostering curiosity.
The toy is definitely one that grows with children: for younger babies there were elements to explore with their mouths as well as their hands (the teether was a really good addition) whilst toddlers began using the rocket and the small character for imaginative play. Parents particularly liked being able to take one part of the rocket or the character out and about as a separate travel toy. We did find that the parts didn’t stick together very well, although this did mean it was easy for babies to take apart with little effort (which they enjoyed a lot!).
