What our experts think
Mr. Shopbot is sturdy, chunky and colourful – perfect for little hands. The friendly character puts a fun twist on playing shops, and proved very popular with our testers – with some children extending their role play by adding other toys such as shopping trollies and dolls. Children loved pressing the buttons and finding out what effect the different actions had – the noises were a particular hit and there was lots of giggling when Mr Shopbot let out a burp.
The toy encouraged the children to experiment and explore – for example they had to work out how to get the coins back out (by pressing the button) – fostering curiosity and helping children learn cause and effect. There were lots of different parts to twist, push and scan developing the children’s hand-eye coordination. We found that the sound couldn’t be turned off, which was annoying for parents and would be a useful feature to have!
