What our testers said

“It’s so colourful!” – Boy aged 7

“Look at all these shapes, I’m going to see what I can make” – Girl aged 8

What our experts think

This classic toy stood out and was very popular with our testers. It is very intuitive – the children worked out how to use it without any guidance at all! The possibilities for expressing themselves creatively were endless, and children enjoyed exploring what they could make with the different shapes, which promotes shape and colour recognition and imaginative play. Matching and fitting different shapes together also compliments children’s logic and STEM learning by promoting skills used in technical drawing, layouts and flow charts which are used in engineering.

We observed a wide range of art work from self-portraits to Picasso style abstracts and the children were very proud of their masterpieces! The size of the pieces required fine motor control and hand-eye coordination to place them in the desired location (and to remove them from the sheet). There were however some minor issues with it being slightly tricky to remove the pieces from the sheet and some of the pieces were damaged in the process.
