What our experts think
This BBQ toy is great for encouraging imaginative role play (the superfood of a healthy play diet). Our little testers really enjoyed playing with it, especially outside – a few of the children played alongside each other, pretending that they were cooking their lunch.
Toys like these that emulate real-life versions are great as they help children to understand about concepts in the world around them, for example, cooking for their family. Imitating scenarios they have seen (e.g. parent opening and closing the lid to check on the food) not only teaches children about cooking, but also aids their personal, social and emotional development. Our testers particularly liked putting the sausages and coal in the bbq and using the tongs – they sometimes found this a little tricky, but kept perservering which is absolutely great for developing hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
