What is it
Dessineo ‘Learn to Paint by Numbers’ is a specially designed artistic learning aid perfect for stimulating the creativity and imagination in children. Children can learn to paint by using numbered black & white pictures and colouring in the specific areas, using the colours that match the numbers (colour charts provided).
The numbers the tubes of paint correspond with those shown on the illustration enabling you to create four beautiful animals. The coloured edges make it easy to identify the colours.
Contents: 4x Painting Sheets, 6x Paints, 1x Brush and 1x Artist Pallet.

What our experts think
This is a great way for young children to create expressive paintings – they were very proud of their finished pieces! We liked how the set encouraged number and colour recognition as they identified each correct colour for their picture. It also is good for developing fine motor skills as children hold and control the brush, ideal for refining their pincer grip (used for writing and drawing) – although some of our testers with poor pencil control found the pictures small and fiddly.
The activity also promoted concentration and attention, and with adult contribution, there was the potential for discussion about different animals and different colours, developing children’s understanding of the world around them. Some of the children started off very well but ended up just mixing the colours together – however, this also promotes creativity and allows them to use their imagination to express their feelings, which is an important part of art-making!
