What our experts think
Electro Dough allows children to get creative with coloured modelling dough while learning important scientific concepts. Our younger testers did need adult assistance to help them match the wires and complete the circuit, but once they did this there was much amazement as it lit up! Connecting the wires correctly to light the LEDs and make the buzzer work requires trial and error, which promotes children’s perseverance and helps their problem-solving skills. The children received a boost of self-confidence and a sense of achievement as they saw their creations come to life.
We liked that the set combines science and creativity – our testers enjoyed the tactile activity of forming their different creations (including a face, hot dog and tomato!). This is good for developing dexterity, which helps with the pincer grip needed for writing and drawing. You can also go online for more circuits and diagrams, to expand children’s knowledge and understanding even further.
