What is it
The 24 pack of Paint Sticks set contains the classic, dayglow and metallic colours so children can start creating works of art without the mess of conventional paints.
Just like a glue stick, the solid paint inside can be turned up or down to reveal the correct amount. Draw lightly on the surface for a crayon effect, and press down harder for more solid colour coverage. Children can experiment with different effects by dotting, stamping, washes and scraping.
These can be used on many surfaces: paper, wipeboards, pebbles, leaves, shells and windows.

What our experts think
Paint Sticks are a great way to let children engage in the art of painting without mess! They proved extremely popular with our testers and all of the children wanted to draw and write with them – it was lovely to see how they were encouraged to experiment with different shapes, colours and letters (they would be a great resource for emergent writers).
The sticks are very easy to hold and are especially good for children who haven’t yet developed their pencil grip: we liked the fact that not too much pressure was required to achieve a mark on the paper. The colours are bright and vibrant and the metallics are really shiny.
Our testers were extremely pleased with their finished pieces of art – the effect the paints gave was really good. The children had lots of fun experimenting with the different colours and effects; with adult input there was scope for developing children’s knowledge of different colours and colour mixing. Without adult input, the children were free to explore and investigate what happened when they combined different colours and types.
The paint sticks proved a massive hit and the parents and carers of our testers have all said that they will be buying some more sets of them.
