What is it

The doll is hand-made with finishing touches that mirror the original and much loved character as much as possible. From the woollen hair right down to the shoes, clothing and accessories, it’s been made with soft, colourful and tactile fabrics to give a really plush feel, great for cuddles as well as playtime.

The doll can sit up on its own and its long, dangly legs will make storytelling more fun and the doll itself more durable. The doll is 36 centimetres tall.

What our experts think

The Little Red Riding Hood Rag Doll was a firm favourite with our little testers, who delighted in setting up a home for her, putting her to bed, and more. This role play is excellent for developing imagination and encouraging language (as children verbalise their actions). The size and durability of the doll was very good; it survived a ride in a shopping trolley and a go on the trampoline! The children liked the fact that the doll was tactile and cuddly as well as large enough to walk with holding its hand.

With adult interaction the doll was used to retell the story of Little Red Riding Hood – it was lovely to have a visual to bring the story to life, and this is a great way to encourage a love of reading. Overtime the children could be encouraged to retell the story themselves using the doll.
