What is it
Quirk! is a family card game where you have to make sounds and actions to win cards from other players, once you have three of a kind, that is your Quirk and you get to play it in front of you. The person with the most Quirks at the end is the winner. Each deck has 13 characters and 3 of each character totally 39 character cards. The game also includes “take that” cards, 7 tactic cards, 3 defence cards and 7 skips cards. These cards are used once quirks are placed on the table. Using a tactic card on your turn you can steal a set of characters (a quirk) from another player. Having a defence card allows you to block a steal and skip cards can be played on other players to simply skip their turn.
Quirk! is the base game to the series and features characters such as, cows, sheep, dogs, cats, pirates and musicians.

What our experts think
This family game is a lovely way to develop turn-taking through drama and acting. Our testers particularly enjoyed doing the different actions and noises, which resulted in much hilarity! We really liked the illustrations on the cards, they were vibrant and appealed to our testers.
We found the game great for building children’s social and communication skills as they took turns. It also allows them to develop listening skills as they are required to watch and act on the knowledge they have gained. The game has an element of strategy which is great for developing children’s logical thinking skills, as they need to think through what card they are playing. We particularly liked that the different types of cards are colour coded, as it helped our testers put them in order in their hand.
