What is it
Spike the Fine Motor Hedgehog challenges children to replace the chunky, peg-shaped ‘quills’ within the holes that dot the smiling hedgehog’s back.
Kids can arrange the quills by warm or cool colours, work on sequences and patterns by alternating colours, or count the quills with the help of numbers printed on the hedgehog’s back. Once playtime is over, Spike the Fine Motor Hedgehog is a snap to clean up – each piece is made of plastic that can be easily wiped clean, and the quills stow snugly inside the hedgehog’s body, which adds simplicity to storage too.
Set of 14 includes:
-12 colourful pegs (quills)
– Two-piece hard plastic hedgehog
– Soft plastic quill pieces fit inside for easy storage
– Features multilingual packaging and activity guide

What our experts think
This colourful hedgehog is a great way to encourage little ones to develop their hand-eye coordination and colour recognition skills. The chunky pegs are easy to grab for small hands and their shape encourages a pincer grip – ideal for strengthening muscles in the fingers and hands ready to learn to hold a pencil!
Colour recognition games like this also help to teach children about counting, sorting and identification which are concepts they will later use in Numeracy. Our testers found that this game kept little ones engaged for an extended period, which is great at this young age, as it develops their attention span for learning.
