What our experts think
The Thomas and friends smart tablet was a big hit with our little testers; it is a great way for children to learn their numbers, letters, colours and shapes in a fun and engaging way. This is ideal leading up to and alongside pre-school, as it builds upon early numeracy and literacy skills, as well as spatial awareness and logic, key for activities related to the curriculum. It also promotes important skills in listening and attention, which aids school learning as well as communication and social development. The children loved the graphics and the noises it made (and the adults loved the fact that it could be switched off to save the batteries and their sanity!)
The instructions were clear and the children were able to work the device on their own but our testers found it had more educational value when used with some adult input, which is ideal for parent engagement and provides opportunities for challenging and progressing your child’s learning. Due to the size of the product it is easily transportable making it a great toy for little hands and to take out and about.
