What is it
Ticket to Ride is a cross-country train adventure. Players collect and play matching train cards to claim railway routes and connect cities throughout North America. The longer the routes, the more points they earn.
Players get extra points by connecting two distant cities, and building the longest continuous railway.
With each turn you either draw more cards, claim a route, or get additional Destination Tickets; the tension builds from being forced to consider your greed – adding more cards to your hand – and your fear – losing a critical route to a competitor.

What our experts think
Ticket to Ride is a game that requires players to think strategically and tactically. It did take some of the testers a while to master the rules, but once they did it kept them engaged for a long time. There was lots of discussion throughout the game, as the children decided the routes an which would acquire the most points.
The children enjoyed finding the cities and it was a good introduction to the geography of North America (although there were some pronunciation issues as many of the places were unknown to the children). The game also encouraged children to play together, developing their social skills. Our testers found the game was best played with three or more players.
