What is it
“Was William Shakespeare born early enough to enjoy the delights of a cup of tea? And did he wear a Top Hat? Britain’s first Prime Minister was surely at a later date, but was that before or after The Great Fire of London?”
These are the kind of questions that you’ll be faced with in Timeline: British History. Each turn you place one of your cards where you think it goes in the Timeline before turning it over to see if you are right. There is only one goal – correctly play all of your cards!
This game contains 110 British History themed cards and can be combined with the cards from other Timeline sets.

What our experts think
This game was a huge hit with our testers – even the ones who aren’t even interested in History! The clear instructions and simple gameplay made it easy to start playing right away. It’s also a great game for families to enjoy together, as the children were often as accurate as the adults. Our testers loved playing together and this is a great way to develop their social skills, and teach them to win and lose respectfully.
Children can apply what they have learned in school, helping to reinforce knowledge, but as you don’t need to know exact dates to play it’s possible to make an educated guess too. This means that children can use their problem solving skills and base their answer on dates they do know (e.g. “I think the Commonwealth Games in Manchester was after Harry Potter.”). The correct date is on the back so they can learn new facts as well.
