Healthy Fruit Salad


A healthy fruit salad is a delicious and nutritious snack that kids of all ages can enjoy making.

Here’s a simple recipe for kids under 12 to make their own fruit salad from scratch. We’ve also included suggestions for creating more advanced and fancier fruit salads.



  • 2 bananas
  • 2 oranges
  • 1 apple
  • 1 pear
  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 1 cup grapes
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup raspberries
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional)


For a more advanced fruit salad, try adding:

  • Pineapple chunks
  • Mango chunks
  • Kiwi slices
  • Melon balls
  • Pomegranate seeds
  • Mint leaves
  • Coconut flakes
  • Chopped nuts



  1. Wash and chop all the fruits into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Combine the fruits in a large bowl and toss gently.
  3. If desired, drizzle the honey over the fruit salad and toss gently again.
  4. Chill the fruit salad in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving.


To make a fancier fruit salad, try arranging the fruit in a decorative pattern or layering the fruit in a clear glass bowl for a colourful display. You can also experiment with different fruit combinations and dressings. For example, try a tropical fruit salad with pineapple, mango, papaya, and coconut flakes, dressed with lime juice and honey.

Or a berry fruit salad with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, dressed with a balsamic vinegar reduction.
