What our experts think
The dinosaur theme of this Aquabeads set was a big draw for our testers and was very popular. They were keen to get started and used the leaflet in the box to choose which dinosaur they were going to make.
Some of the younger testers, aged 4, found it tricky to place the beads onto the pegs and needed some adult help, but the older children had no problem following the pictures and finding the correct beads for each design. The set inspired discussions among the testers as they played; they talked about what the different dinosaurs ate, how big they were, which were their favourites etc. One child even went to get his dinosaur book to find the dinosaur he was making!
It also encouraged children to be creative and design their own patterns and pictures – once they had made one or two dinosaurs they felt confident to not have to follow the instruction guide. Some of the children decided to collaborate on their creations which was also a great opportunity for them to practise turn-taking and working as a team. All of the children, regardless of age, enjoyed playing with this set and were proud of their creations.
