With no need for instructions (although an idea guide is included), children quickly got stuck in, exploring how the soft foam pieces connect using the magnetic circles. The simplicity of the design made it easy for children to play independently. They soon discovered how to join pieces together and began experimenting with different shapes and structures. The open-ended nature of the set meant there was no “right” way to build, which encouraged lots of creativity. Our testers came up with imaginative ideas such as “double trucks” and even a “unicorn car”, complete with sound effects and storytelling.
As they built and rebuilt their designs, children were developing important skills. Working out how to connect the pieces supported problem-solving and perseverance, while experimenting with different structures encouraged trial-and-error learning. The hands-on nature of the blocks also helped to develop hand-eye coordination. The sets kept children engaged for extended periods, with many returning to try out new ideas and improve their builds.
