"I’ve got so many dojo points - I’m nearly at my next certificate!" - Girl, aged 6
"I love seeing photos from our school trip. I get to show my parents where I’ve been and what I’ve been up to." - Girl, aged 9
ClassDojo is a free app designed to help parents stay closely connected to their child’s learning and school life. It allows teachers to share photos, videos, updates and announcements via a secure class feed, giving families a real insight into what their children are doing each day. Parents can also message teachers privately, making communication easy and direct.
One of the standout features for the families who tested the app was its positive behaviour tracking system. Teachers can award points for things like kindness, effort and teamwork, which the children were keen to check regularly – proudly reporting their points at home. This encourages motivation, self-esteem and a strong sense of responsibility. Children also enjoyed customising their own ‘Dojo Monsters’ and playing on Dojo Islands, where they could complete fun, learning-based activities.
While parents found the app particularly helpful in starting conversations about school, celebrating successes and staying informed, it was mentioned that while the app suits a wide range of ages, it could benefit from more features designed for older primary children.
Overall, our testers found ClassDojo to be an engaging, family-friendly app that strengthens the link between home and school in a fun, positive way.
