Description
From Fiesta Crafts, each chunky magnetic tile has and English word and picture on one side and the equivalent French word on the other. Place the tile either way up on the supplied dry-wipe board and write the translation on the board. Turn the tile over to see if it is correct. Keep trying until it is right.
There are other activities to try too, making it a very tactile way to learn.
11 word themes included: Animals, colours, numbers, feelings, greetings, family, food and drink, weather, clothes, parts of the body, and objects. Also includes dry-wipe board and pen.
What our testers said
“Showed children that learning a language can be enjoyable” – Playleader
“I know that means ham. I don’t know how I knew that but I do. Yep it is ham I am correct” – Girl aged 11
What our experts think
It can be difficult for native English speakers to learn foreign languages as we don’t get as much exposure to them as our European neighbours do to English so anything that increases children’s exposure to foreign words will provide reinforcement for learning that language. Parents can maximise the benefit by encouraging children to say the words out loud and make sentences with them.
