What our experts think
The National Geographic dig kits provide a lovely, hands-on way of learning about science and history. Our testers started digging straight away with the tools provided, even engaging in role play as they pretended to be excavators and historians. They were very careful with their digging, to ensure the gems/fossils didn’t break and there was much excitement when something was uncovered!
We found the kit great for encouraging teamwork – the children took it in turns to have a go with the tools, which is great for developing patience and social and emotional skills. We also found the kits and accompanying information guides generated lots of discussions, with some of our testers even requesting a gem and birthstone quiz! This is excellent for expanding scientific vocabulary and developing knowledge and understanding of science, geography and history.
