Description
The Roleplay Boxes are a set of 5 collections put together to support the use of writing, mark making and number during imaginative activities in the early years. They are designed to accompany the writing belts but can also stand alone. Each collection is neatly packaged in a cardboard box. Using some of the more common early years themes of Builder, Explorer, Gardener, Medic/Vet and Pirate, they provide a few well targeted materials and some guidance notes to encourage the involvement of children in writing messages, taking orders, drawing plans, recording or sharing ideas. Each box has a selection of interesting notepads, pens, pencils, clipboard, labels or charts plus some specific items such as magnifying glass, bandages, spirit level, compass, plant pots or pirate gold. The guidance for adults provides suggestions of how the items could be used, where there are opportunities to integrate writing, mark making and number to give purpose and reason, to show that writing is an important part of everyday life.They sit comfortably alongside the EYFS where they broaden opportunities within the Enabling Environment. They are aimed at both home and nursery play as well as childminders who will find them easy to use with groups of different aged children.
