What our testers said

“Let’s make a fidget. I can add it to my collection.” – Boy, aged 10

“I’m going to take a photo of this.” – Girl, aged 9, after making her initials with the cubes.

What our experts think

Our testers were eager to dive straight in and begin playing with the set, starting by creating their own shapes, structures and patterns. They experimented with balancing the blocks, joining the blocks by their faces or edges, and grouping or alternating colours in their designs. Some compared it to a Rubik’s Cube when fully assembled, enjoying the experience of spinning each section while keeping the structure intact.

After free playing, most children turned to the booklet for design inspiration. The pictures were easy to work from, as they clearly showed all the blocks needed for each design. The children could complete simpler designs fairly easily, which boosted their confidence and encouraged them to try more complex creations.

The fidget spinners were particularly appealing to the children, especially the older ones, and although more complex to make, they were still able to complete the designs successfully with very little help.

Children didn’t understand the purpose of the UV flashlight due to the lack of written instructions in the booklet. However, with adult guidance, they were excited to discover the light’s effect on the different colours, which they then incorporated into their play.

The Falling Block Puzzle Game was an added bonus which the children enjoyed, although they did need adult support to explain how it worked, due to lack of written instructions in the booklet.

A popular set that offered an engaging experience, blending hands-on creativity and problem solving in a fun way.
