What our experts think

With a wide range of languages available to learn, including German, Japanese, Italian and Chinese, Duolingo offers something for every child. Our testers were quickly engaged by the fun characters and games. The daily streak feature is a clever incentive to keep children motivated to return to the app each day and helps them to make steady progress. The app also provides a great bonding experience for families, as users can compete, send gifts and encourage each other to keep learning. The interactive leaderboard fostered a sense of friendly competition, even though the occasional drop in rank was a bit discouraging.

As the lessons progressed, the difficulty increased and some adult assistance was required, but on the whole the children could navigate the app independently. A great tool to make learning a new language fun and interactive!
