What our testers said
“I made a farm, Mum, look!” – Boy aged 6
“I want to make lots of buildings – it’s such fun!” – Girl aged 6
What our experts think
Our testers thoroughly enjoyed building their cities from the ground up! There were so many different things to make – we saw lots of experimenting with various combinations to see what they would create – and children really loved seeing the animals interacting with their cities.
The open-ended style very much encouraged imaginative play; children are free to design their city and use the characters in small world play without the pressure of having a problem to solve. This develops creativity, fosters curiosity and gives children confidence in making decisions. The different types of buildings also help young children learn what makes up a city, improving their understanding of the world.
Children needed a little help to get started but once they knew what to do, they were happy to play on their own. It is great that children can make more than one city but it would have been nice to be able to name them, particularly for children who are sharing a tablet.
