Our testers were quick to engage with the tractor and drill set, showing great enthusiasm as they explored its different features. After learning the simple “righty tighty, lefty loosey” rule and becoming familiar with the drill settings, many children were able to change the tyres and remove the hood with minimal support. Children learned how to use the toy through a mix of observing others and hands-on trial and error, building confidence as they played. Taking turns to mount tyres, race the tractor and add repairs into imaginative “pit stop” scenarios kept play varied and engaging, while some children extended the experience by pretending to fix objects around the room using the drill in its off position.
Older children, around three years old, were able to manage the drill and components independently after a brief demonstration, while two-year-olds required more guidance but remained highly involved. Younger children aged 18–22 months focused mainly on pushing the tractor as a vehicle, exploring the drill freely and imitating adult actions. This natural progression from simple vehicle play to dismantling and rebuilding supported fine motor skills, hand–eye coordination and problem-solving. The open-ended design also encouraged creativity, goal-directed behaviour, gross motor development and language growth through interaction with peers and caregivers, making the toy well suited to both independent and shared play.
