"The white boards are good! I can’t work out hard maths questions in my head." Boy, aged 12

"I wish they had this at my school for maths lessons." Girl, aged 10
The Mi-box Live Maths Sport Challenge game is a great way to make learning maths active, engaging and inclusive. With different levels to choose from, it was easy for our testers to match the game to different abilities - younger children could play confidently while older ones could tackle trickier challenges in addition, subtraction, multiplication and more. Turns are taken simultaneously so this meant no waiting around and children were actively involved all of the time.

Players could choose from a variety of sports-themed character pieces, such as basketball, football, tennis and even skateboarding. The inclusion of whiteboards for harder sums and the helpful times table column sticks for those who aren't confident with their times tables were appreciated by our testers. Parents commented that more detailed instructions in the way of a leaflet or booklet in the box would have been useful, although scanning the QR code on the box does take you to online instructions.

An app is also available, meaning that the game can be played while out and about without the board. This also has adjustable levels and includes fun sport-related facts (Cristiano Ronaldo can jump higher than the average NBA basket ball player!) helping to keep players engaged. It was widely agreed that the game would be particularly useful for schools or home educators - making maths lessons more dynamic, interactive and enjoyable for children of all ages and abilities.
- Encourages children to practise mental maths

- Develops concentration and attention skills
