What our experts think
Suitable for different ages, Sunny the Sea Turtle supports a range of sensory needs, and promotes the discussion of different emotions and how to process them. Sunny was popular with our testers who found it very useful when they needed a source of comfort, cuddling it in bed or sitting on the sofa with it on their lap. The turtle is weighted and this was particularly comforting for the children, one commenting “It feels like a hug”.
Our testers were attracted to the sequins, and different colours and textures on the turtle’s shell and enjoyed brushing the sequins and making patterns with them. The shell is also detachable and can be used separately as a pillow. The accompanying story engaged the children and provided opportunities for discussions about emotions, which was particularly useful for those who struggle to recognise and express their emotions, or struggle with self regulation. Children were keen to repeatedly engage with Sunny and some incorporated it into imaginative role play fostering creativity and communication.
