Description
With over 100 pieces and 18 different construction elements, the GraviTrax Starter Set from Ravensburger, offers everything you need to begin building your own action-packed track systems. Discover how the laws of physics affect the journey your marble takes with curves, junctions, freefalls and even a cannon. Experiment using different heights and angles to control the speed of the marble to get it to the finish.
What our testers said
“I’m starting to get it.” – Boy aged 10
“It would be cool if the ramps were even higher.” – Girl aged 14
What our experts think
A STEM toy that explores the principles of physics in a fun way. Our testers were intrigued and eager to get started: they used their imagination to build the tracks, promoting creativity and spatial awareness as well as logic when fitting and building pieces together. This kind of construction toy also allows for trial and error learning, with players required to rebuild and use their problem solving skills when the balls didn’t roll along the track properly. Problem solving progresses a child’s learning at this age as it pushes them to provide solutions to challenges as they occur, which leads to new ideas as well as collaboration and team work when playing in a group (our testers enjoyed working together and making new discoveries about how the toy worked).
There was lots of learning taking place as the children played: key scientific concepts such as gravity, magnetism and kinetic energy are promoted, which compliments the school curriculum – being able to see these forces in an active and fun context boosts learning. We liked the way the pieces clicked together, it was simple and intuitive to use but some of our testers found the number of pieces off putting as there were so many to contend with!
