What our experts think

The Joy of Reading learning app received positive feedback from users. Children thoroughly enjoyed using the app, engaging with its various activities almost daily. After some initial adult guidance, they quickly became independent users, finding the activities engaging and easy to follow. The app notably improved their letter formation, phonics understanding, and writing skills, making concepts ‘click’ for them.

The layout was user-friendly for both adults and children, with clear instructions. While some precision was required for letter writing activities, this was easily resolved with a stylus. Children remained excited to learn with the app’s bright colours, varied activities, and appealing narration. It effectively combines phonic learning with problem-solving, develops listening skills by introducing letter sounds before written characters and follows a clear learning progression. Overall, it provided a diverse and engaging platform which is perfect for children ages 3 to 6.
