Description
My Mood Stars are a set of eight soft, hand-sized plush stars, each representing a different emotion that children can easily recognise. They are particularly valuable for supporting children who may face behavioural or emotional challenges.
Designed to encourage conversations about feelings, My Mood Stars are widely used by early years providers and align with the Early Years Foundation Stage. They also offer excellent support for children with special educational needs and learning disabilities.
The stars attach to the brightly coloured wipeable board using Velcro dots, allowing them to be placed and displayed in different arrangements. This interactive feature makes them a versatile resource for both home and educational settings.
By encouraging children to recognise, name and discuss emotions, My Mood Stars help to build communication skills, support mental health, and promote emotional wellbeing.

“It's twinkle twinkle little star!" - irl, aged 2
“This one is happy, look at her smile. I feel happy and mummy feels happy!" - Girl, aged 3
My Mood Stars is a great resource for helping children identify, explore and express their emotions. The colourful, high quality stars are soft and safe for little hands, and their appealing design naturally encouraged play. Younger children, aged 2-3, could recognise and name most of the emotions, while older children, with the support of an adult, used the stars to have more in-depth conversations about feelings such as happy, sad, scared and surprised.
The included workbook is a great addition, offering space for children to draw or write, further supporting emotional exploration. Activity ideas are also provided, giving practical ways to use the set, suitable for one-on-one play and larger groups, including activities for non-verbal children. There is a sturdy framed board which is handy for displaying the stars, though not essential for play. The children enjoyed the badges that come with the set, allowing them to choose a star and wear it on their clothes to display how they were feeling.
