Description

Inspired by the original AEC Routemaster, Wrightbus introduced the New Routemaster or ‘Boris bus’, in 2012. It was noted for having a rear open platform with “hop-on hop-off” capability, similar to the original Routemaster.

Brick by brick, this striking new model kit has been carefully designed to guide children aged 6+ through the building process, as they build icons of the capital, no glue needed!

Durable enough to play and display with joy, the New Routemaster Bus is our biggest Quickbuild set to date, includes 88 parts, moving wheels and stickers.

Transport for London Official Licensed Product.

What our testers said

“That’s Tower Bridge and the London Eye on the sign.” – Girl aged 10

“It will look cool when it’s finished.” – Girl aged 10

What our experts think

Our testers were excited to build this visually appealing vehicle and soon realised they needed to focus, think logically, and work through the instructions systematically to achieve the outcome they wanted. The children teamed up to build the model together which gave them the chance to develop their communication and social skills as they came up with a plan of action and overcame obstacles together. Building sets like this are great for helping to strengthen muscles in the hands, wrists, and arms, and for building children’s manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. The pictures of London landmarks on the side of the bus are a nice touch and prompted discussions among the children, as they tried to identify what each one was, and inspired conversations about London.
