“Look Mummy! ‘Kit’ is now ‘kite!’ That’s magic!” - Boy, aged 5
“I love these books because they make me feel like a big girl reader!” - Girl, aged 5
The Reading Skill Set boxes come in three parts: Sounds to Reading (for ages 3–5), Words to Books (4–6), and Advanced Rules to Chapter Books (5–7). Beautifully packaged and thoughtfully structured, these boxes offer a clear, stage-by-stage approach to learning to read — and they really impressed our testers and their parents.
Starting from the beginning, children are introduced to letter sounds and syllables through short, engaging activities designed to hold their attention. The next box increases the challenge with phonics concepts such as digraphs and three sound words, while the final box introduces older children to 'rule-breaker' words and story structure. The activities and stories really engaged our testers who enthusiastically returning to their boxes many times - a clear sign of how much they enjoyed them.
Parents felt the boxes offered just the right level of challenge and supported their child’s learning in a way that felt completely natural. They also appreciated the quality time spent with their child as they read a book together or supported them in an activity.
All in all, a fun packed and effective tool for supporting early reading development at home.
